I have been involved with animals all my life and really enjoy working with people who have pets.  Many of the condominiums do not allow pets or certain types of pets.  By this, I mean that they might allow cats, but not dogs.  They might allow dogs, but not aggressive breeds.  They might allow one pet, but not two.  Many complexes limit the weight of the pet.
